It’s only a month away, now. As some of you know, I go to Vegas every year for the SEMA show. It’s a week long convention of endless amounts of car parts, accessories, modifications and cars in general. It’s basically my Mecca. We’ll be driving out on November 3rd and coming home November 7th.
This will be my 5th show, with only one year off back in ‘05 because I had strep throat. But this year is special. My good friend, Song, is getting married while all of our friends are in Vegas! She and her fiance are both car fanatics as well. And she adores vegas so it seemed like the perfect time and place to to exchange vows.
One more thing, I am her maid of honor!! It is really an honor to be part of their wedding. I have a lot to do with planning and organizing things, such as; the bachelorette party! Party in Vegas, it can’t get any better!
Vegas, here we come!
The happy couple.

The photography message board that I post on everyday had a thread asking you to show off your glasses. So I took this silly picture of me.

Two Fridays ago, the daughter of the VP of sales at my last company (the car dealership) was found face down and unconscious in their hot tub. Her dad went in the hot tub the night before and was going to put the cover back on in the morning but he ended up leaving before the sun came up so he didn’t see the hot tub in the morning and totally forgot.
She was blue, her mouth was foaming and the fire department later told her parents that they didn’t think she was going to make it.
In the hospital she would wake up with blank stares like there was no life inside of her. The doctors told her parents that she had brain damage and would never be the same if she survived at all.
I think it was two days later, she went into a deep sleep and when she woke up, she opened her eyes, looked at her dad and said, “Dadda, up!”
And now she’s fine! I went over there last week and took some pictures of her for the family (and for myself).

Over the weekend, I went to Santa Barbara to visit my mom and visit all my favorite places. And also to eat at all my favorite restaurants, ha ha. On Friday, after I rode into town, I drove up OSM, aka Old San Marcos, my favorite road, and hit ECC (East Camino Cielo) to Knapp’s Castle. This is one of my most favorite places to escape to.
Here’s a short history about the landmark:
Knapp’s Castle on Wikipedia
These are some of the pictures I took while I was up there.

Played around in Photoshop for a while and came up with this. Is it too much? I like that it’s dramatic.

I had a photo shoot this morning at 6AM down at a beach near San Clemente. I took a lot of photos so here is what I’m working on so far. I’ll be editing for a week or two.

I got to go to the X Games again this year. It was sweltering hot and I got a sunburn even though I wore sunblock. But it was all worth it. Lots of dirt, fast cars and crashes. I took over 700 pictures so I am slowly going through them all. I’ll keep adding to this post as I edit them. Here’s one for now.

Adam Carolla coming into the Venue through the metal detectors. He had to empty out his pockets just like the rest of us. He only had one dude with him, too. He was going in for an autograph signing we saw set up.

I finally got around to editing the family photos I took a few weeks ago.
The dad’s face is out of focus in the piggy-back one. I was focusing on the baby. I wish I was at a smaller aperture, but what are ya gonna do with a wiggly baby? It’s cute!

I did some photos for my friend’s shop, Garage Tuning. These are for a kit he’s selling.

I was able to use my snoot on my on-camera 580EX II flash for most of them. I bounced it off the white background. And then I handheld the 430EX to light the front of the parts.

Travis and I bought a motorcycle this week. It’s so exciting! It’s a 2008 Honda CBR600RR, matte black. We got it so we could save on gas and also have another form of transportation. Travis has been working on his car for weeks now (installing a new turbo kit) so I have been taking to him to and picking him up from work. Now I don’t have to anymore, ha ha. He has the bike. When I work up the courage, he’s going to teach me to ride it. WooHoo!

I was really bored yesterday so I went up into the foothills and took some pictures. It has been so hot here lately I waited till like 6 o’clock to leave the house. It was over a 100 but it’s supposed to be cooler today.

And… I’m back.
On Monday, I went to Fry’s Electronics and bought all new parts to build a computer! My current one was just not fast enough anymore. I could barely run Photoshop CS3 and I have to use that everyday!
For $475 bucks, I got everything here:
Case
500W Power Supply
Motherboard
Dual Core 2.33GHz Processor
2GB Memory
500GB Sata Hard Drive
DVD-R
I went back the next night and bought more RAM, though, he he.
I installed Vista on it, my first time using it, and I really like it!
I have yet to clean up my studio, though! This is what happens when you build your own computer. Boxes and manuals and wrappers go flying!

The build and install went smoothly but Travis decided to upgrade his computer as well and the Photoshop install files were on his computer. So I have been without Photoshop until this morning.

After shooting Song, she and I set out to capture the sunset. I gave her a couple lessons and she was on her way. For these I metered to the outside of the sun, locked the exposure and then recomposed my shot. I’ll update these as I edit.

See the little girl?:
