vegas, here we come!

It’s only a month away, now.  As some of you know, I go to Vegas every year for the SEMA show.  It’s a week long convention of endless amounts of car parts, accessories, modifications and cars in general.  It’s basically my Mecca.  We’ll be driving out on November 3rd and coming home November 7th.

This will be my 5th show, with only one year off back in ‘05 because I had strep throat.  But this year is special.  My good friend, Song, is getting married while all of our friends are in Vegas!  She and her fiance are both car fanatics as well.  And she adores vegas so it seemed like the perfect time and place to to exchange vows.

One more thing, I am her maid of honor!!  It is really an honor to be part of their wedding.  I have a lot to do with planning and organizing things, such as; the bachelorette party!  Party in Vegas, it can’t get any better!

Vegas, here we come!

The happy couple. :)

me, but with glasses

The photography message board that I post on everyday had a thread asking you to show off your glasses.  So I took this silly picture of me. :)

family photos

I finally got around to editing the family photos I took a few weeks ago.

The dad’s face is out of focus in the piggy-back one. I was focusing on the baby. I wish I was at a smaller aperture, but what are ya gonna do with a wiggly baby? It’s cute!

garage tuning parts

I did some photos for my friend’s shop, Garage Tuning.  These are for a kit he’s selling.

I was able to use my snoot on my on-camera 580EX II flash for most of them. I bounced it off the white background. And then I handheld the 430EX to light the front of the parts.

good morning, milo

It’s yawn time!

song and the blue sky

Here’s another one from the series. Blue sky, normal looking model. It’s almost not noticeable until it’s pointed out. Although, going through the set, I could have probably used another couple layers of the warming gel.  I didn’t bring any more with me, though.

si technique… update

Song and I went to the beach today to take some pictures and so I could practice my SI technique finally. With this picture, I had the camera set to tungsten white balance and I have a couple layers of warming gel on the flash. You can see that the sky is really blue but the subject is still very warm. If I didn’t warm up the flash, she would look dead. That’s not good.

old books, not so old techniques

My mom found a bunch of books about photography that were published in 1939!  I love them!  We still have the same techniques now that we did back then.  I can’t wait to start reading the one about make-up…  That should be interesting!  What was popular back in the 30s and 40s?

more backyard bones

Here are a couple more photos I took over the weekend. Seriously, this backyard was a photo adventure! Everywhere I turned I saw possibility!

junk, stuff, treasure, whatever…

This weekend I was visiting my mom in Santa Barbara. She rents a room in a house and the guy who owns it stores some crazy crap in his backyard. I thought it was a perfect opportunity to use my new light setup and get some weird pictures.
