twice shy

My dad and uncle have been playing music together since before I was born. I grew up around band practice and watched them play my whole life! Here are a couple songs of theirs to listen to.

hip hop hooray!

So guess what? I am now the new hip hop instructor at a dance studio down the street from my house! Yeah, that’s right. Dansaa’s back! I have two classes right now; a kid’s class and an adult class. Last night was my first night teaching and I had a blast! I can’t wait for next week. I’ve already got choreography running through my mind. I thought it was going to be hard to come up with stuff every week but now that I’m back in the swing of things, it should be a lot easier!

Here’s a picture of the dance studio before anyone got there. I can’t believe it, I finally get to do what I’ve wanted to do all my life!

track day, fun day!

I had sooo much fun at the track yesterday! It was freezing and my face got wind-burned, but it was totally worth it.

My new lens was great but I learned a few things during my first time out with it. One, Image Stabilization doesn’t help very much when it’s crazy windy! ha ha. Myself and the camera were all over the place. Two, apparently it’s hard to track and keep in focus white cars. A lot of my white car pictures were blurry. And third, I really need a monopod. I think it would have definitely kept the number of blurry pictures down in the wind. But it will also help with the weight of the lens. I didn’t think it would be a problem. But after holding it up for an extended period of time, my left wrist really started to ache.

Here are a couple pictures of Travis and our friend, Ferdie.

happy birthday, milo!

Today is Milo’s birthday!  She turned 4.  I’m kind of a crazy cat lady.  I sang happy birthday to her today.  I think she liked it.  She didn’t try to squirm out of my arms while I was singing.

I’ll be waking up at 3AM tomorrow morning to go to Willow Springs Raceway. I should probably be in bed right now but there is still so much to do. Travis has to put his car on the dyno and we have to go shopping and pick up water and snacks to eat while we’re at the track all day. I’ll be using my new lens to take pictures of cars on the track. Wish me luck and hope that I don’t suck too bad! I’ll be selling these!

hb speed

Tonight I’m going to my friend’s shop to take pictures of his cars and the shop itself.  They just moved in recently and he needs some photos of the space! HB Speed, check them out!

I will update tonight with photos.

UPDATE:

By the time I got there the sun had totally set so these are what I got with the available light.

my new lens!

If you’re a photographer and you’re reading this, then you know what the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM lens is.  Well, I bought one.  HOLY CRAP!  I can’t believe that I actually have one now.  It got delivered today and I had to run out and take some test shots.  These are SO not exciting but I had to practice my panning.  I went to the park by my house and took a few sniper photos.  I want to sleep with the lens next to me in my bed, that’s how much I love it!

And then this lady…  I took a picture of her, and then all of a sudden she was in front of me!  Apparently, she turned her car around and asked me what I was taking pictures of!  I told her I just got a new lens and I was practicing taking pictures of moving objects.  She was like, “OH!  I thought you were taking radar pictures or something!”

See, this lens commands respect! ha ha ha.  WHITE LENS TILL I DIE!

i’m so lonely…

Poor wittle, Fishy.  He’s all alone!  Last night I came downstairs to Fisher watching TV by himself.  He was like, “No one wants to play with me!”  I think he’s a bit spoiled…  He has enough toys!

garage tuning

Travis was working on his car at our friend’s shop yesterday so I went over there to hang out for a little bit.  It was way too hot to move so I didn’t stay too long.  But I did get some sweet pictures.  Here is one of them.

Check them out, Garage Tuning.

it’s freakin’ hot today

Google weather says it’s supposed to be 94° today.  I guess that’s better than the 105° I saw in my car yesterday.  It says it’s already 88° right now.  I believe it.  I went outside with Fisher to run around in the backyard.  I didn’t run very far because it’s littered with landmines if you know what I mean.  Time to clean the backyard!

old books, not so old techniques

My mom found a bunch of books about photography that were published in 1939!  I love them!  We still have the same techniques now that we did back then.  I can’t wait to start reading the one about make-up…  That should be interesting!  What was popular back in the 30s and 40s?
