Dear Santa,
I’ve been a good girl this year. I’ve also had a tough year. I lost my job in July and haven’t been able to find another one. But in the meantime, I have tried to focus on making Chelsea Taylor Photography better known and get my business rolling. My whole neighborhood now knows where to get their photos from. I made fliers and put them on everyone’s door on my street and on the next street over. It was hot a day, too.
If you feel so inclined to leave me a gift on Christmas morning, here are some things I’ve been dreaming about:
Gary Fong Lightsphere II Pro Combo System C2 & P2
Seatbelt Bag – Satchel Eggplant
Flowerbomb Parfum by Viktor & Rolf

I asked Nikki over today to take some pictures because I had some ideas for photos. She was a great sport and I think we got some really great shots!

On Black Friday, Travis ordered my Christmas present. FedEx dropped the package off on Wednesday. Are you dying to know what it is yet? IT’S MY NEW EEE PC!!! Wednesday was the happiest day of my life! ha ha ha. I have wanted a laptop for years and was never able to get one. But Asus makes a mini laptop and sells them for cheaper than normal size ones. That plus Black Friday and I now have my very own mini laptop! It already has a name, Lil’ Lappy. I bring it with me everywhere! I am blogging on it from my living room right now.
Here’s a picture from their web site.

Meet John, my 7-month old new best friend. He is the cutest baby on earth! He’s Travis’ nephew. And he loved Fisher. Fisher made sure that the baby was okay at all times. He didn’t like when men held him, either, ha ha.
Thanksgiving was great! Travis’ sister’s family came and stayed at our house for the week and we went over to his mom’s for dinner. Mmm, I love me some Thanksgiving foods!

On Wednesday I washed my car and re-shot it with some better light. I also ordered a canvas print of this for an example I am showing at a photo shoot even in November. I hope it turns out cool!

Travis has done a lot to his Honda CBR600RR since you’ve seen it last. I don’t know if I can remember everything, but he’s put on an exhaust, removed the rear license plate/turn signals assembly and replaced it with a smaller setup, replaced the rear seat with a cowl, 4 frame sliders, gold levers, flush mount front turn signals, smoked front windscreen… I think that’s it.
Looks pretty effing sweet, doesn’t it?

I shot some photos of Travis’ motorcycle today and when I was done, I shot my car. It’s been ages since I shot my car!

We had so much fun at Song’s bridal shower! It went off without a hitch. There was food, there were games, and presents, oh were there presents! Song made out like a bandit. And Jeff did as well, I suppose, ha ha. Here are some of the photos I took along the way.

There were more pictures but I can’t show those to you!

It’s only a month away, now. As some of you know, I go to Vegas every year for the SEMA show. It’s a week long convention of endless amounts of car parts, accessories, modifications and cars in general. It’s basically my Mecca. We’ll be driving out on November 3rd and coming home November 7th.
This will be my 5th show, with only one year off back in ‘05 because I had strep throat. But this year is special. My good friend, Song, is getting married while all of our friends are in Vegas! She and her fiance are both car fanatics as well. And she adores vegas so it seemed like the perfect time and place to to exchange vows.
One more thing, I am her maid of honor!! It is really an honor to be part of their wedding. I have a lot to do with planning and organizing things, such as; the bachelorette party! Party in Vegas, it can’t get any better!
Vegas, here we come!
The happy couple.

The photography message board that I post on everyday had a thread asking you to show off your glasses. So I took this silly picture of me.

Two Fridays ago, the daughter of the VP of sales at my last company (the car dealership) was found face down and unconscious in their hot tub. Her dad went in the hot tub the night before and was going to put the cover back on in the morning but he ended up leaving before the sun came up so he didn’t see the hot tub in the morning and totally forgot.
She was blue, her mouth was foaming and the fire department later told her parents that they didn’t think she was going to make it.
In the hospital she would wake up with blank stares like there was no life inside of her. The doctors told her parents that she had brain damage and would never be the same if she survived at all.
I think it was two days later, she went into a deep sleep and when she woke up, she opened her eyes, looked at her dad and said, “Dadda, up!”
And now she’s fine! I went over there last week and took some pictures of her for the family (and for myself).

I am feeling so uninspired lately with all this not having a job nonsense. I now know what my mom felt like back in the 80s and 90s when she would come home from interviews saying they told her she was overqualified. I never got that. But now that I have heard it myself, I get it. It just means, “You made too much money at your last job and we can’t pay you nearly as much.” But I say in my cover letter that I want to START with a good stable company and work my way up. This is so frustrating!
Sorry for the few and far between blogs. I’ve been trying to set up some shoots with new models but I’m not getting very far because I’m not very inspired.

Over the weekend, I went to Santa Barbara to visit my mom and visit all my favorite places. And also to eat at all my favorite restaurants, ha ha. On Friday, after I rode into town, I drove up OSM, aka Old San Marcos, my favorite road, and hit ECC (East Camino Cielo) to Knapp’s Castle. This is one of my most favorite places to escape to.
Here’s a short history about the landmark:

These are some of the pictures I took while I was up there.

My friend called who works at Sharkeez in Santa Barbara and asked me if I would make a flyer for their club this Friday night. I haven’t made flyers in years, probably like 8 years if I think about it. I think I did all right… I think. Ha ha. My creativity with this sort of thing has capped off at a certain level.

Played around in Photoshop for a while and came up with this. Is it too much? I like that it’s dramatic.

I can’t believe I don’t have a job yet! I am really struggling. I am barely scraping by with unemployment.
I keep posting ads on Craig’s List for my photo services but they keep getting flagged and deleted. I have deduced that people do not want competition. I have gone to the support forums to ask why and they say my ads are fine and don’t know why they would be flagged.
The job market is awful right now. I have applied to everything under the sun. And no one wants me! They all ask for salary history so I think they think I made too much money. But I make it clear in my cover letter that I want to start with a good stable company and work my way up and stay for a long time. That’s not working.
Want to donate to the “Chelsea Lost Her Job” fund? ha ha. No seriously, though, lol.
